do i need a wheel shield on my front wheel when staging my car with weld aluma star pro stock wheels?
I own a shop, a drag car & truck, and think this. I know what you are talking about, and this will depend on how low the trip light is. 90% of the time the light will be about 2 inches off the ground, and the tire trips it, but if the light is high enough to beam through your rims, then yes you might need a shield, or you could end up with a red light. If you can't stage shallow, and deep as well, then you will know its because the beam is too high off the ground. You could always watch the lights as you back up from your burn out, and see if the orange lights react the same when your back wheels go through, as it does with your front wheels. I don't really think this would be an issue, but look to see how high off the ground the beam is, and compare that to your rims. I would think you would have to have a really low profile tire, and a short rim to make this happen, but its something to think about.
Glad to add my 2 cents worth!!!
