Replace Roller Bearings with bronze Bush?
Can anybody give me reason why I cannot replace a set of roller bearings with a Bronze Bush.
The application is a heavy lift crane block sheeves, so rotation speed is slow and load is high.
Any Thoughts?
NB: Replacement bearing have lead time of 18Months and cost GBP£2000 Each.
The only way you could replace the roller bearing with a bronze bush is if you fit the bush with a high pressure lubrication supply.
I used to overhaul overhead cranes and generally speaking roller bearing are fitted were maintenance is not that easy, having said that given that there is an 18 month lead time it will be more cost effective to fabricate a bronze bush with the correct clearance, drill lubrication galleries and fit it will a self acting lubricator.
