Do you think Phantom Hourglass is a little overrated?
My first Zelda game was the original NES version when I was in Kindergarten, but then I was so scared of the 8-Bit Dodongos that I told my parents to hide it. Now I can't find the game cartridge! That was the worst mistake of my life.
Then in 2006 I played Twilight Princess and was completely blown away.
But then I played and completed Phantom Hourglass. Though I liked the graphics and controls, something just didn't click with what I was playing. It didn't feel right, and it was a little bland in overall design. You can't really explore on your own (don't count sea travel; some islands are as boring as heck), and it was too straightforward. And Jolene really annoyed me.
Then I looked at the reviews for the game, and it was hailed and praised in every way. I just didn't think Phantom Hourglass was that great.
What do YOU think of this?
The music wasn't so hot, either.
As I stated in a similar question asked shortly after you asked this, I did think it was a good game on it's own, comparing it to nothing else. I enjoyed playing it.
But comparing it to other Zelda games, it falls flat. People playing this shouldn't expect it to be the next Ocarina of Time.
