How do I get scratches out of plexiglass?
One of my sons tried to get some tree sap off a plexiglass window. It made a mess of scratches. Is there a way to get (buff / polish) these scratches out of the plexiglass ?
We often run into this problem, and there is an easy way to get rid of them, although it does require some work. Depending on how deep they are, the other answer using Novus is absolutely correct, however if they are too deep for that, you can use a dual action sander (be careful to use flat) starting with #600 sand paper to remove the grooves. Then, continue on with #800, #1000, then #1200, and even #1500. Big list, but doesn't take long. Then use fine rubbing compound with a buffer to remove the microscopic sanding scratches, followed with polish (use the buffer for this also). We do this often on boat hatches and dash panels, and it does work. (in the future, try wd-40 for the sap)
