The Exploited, Discharge, G.B.H., or Vice Squad?
All are great bands from the same scene and era but which is the best? None of them really sound anything alike either.
I like all 4 of the bands you mentioned and I have lots of tunes especially more so Discharge and Exploited, but despite having more music of those bands than GBH or Vice Squad, I can say from seeing GBH and Vice Squad, they put on a great show too. With all things considered, I have to go with Discharge on top. Here's how I would rank these bands by my likes.
1) Discharge
2) Exploited
3) GBH
4) Vice Squad
Sorry who might disagree, these all great bands to me, but to me Discharge is one of the top greatest Punk bands of all time and musically I think I think they were far ahead of a lot of Punk bands, especially as far as crossover bands that were a crossover between Punk and Metal. Plus there's the fact that definitely GBH has helped lead the way for protest in Punk and there's fact they go back before the 80's & before a lot of hardcore bands in the 80's were doing protest songs they did. I have to give second place to Exploited because although GBH & Vice Squad have made songs that are classics too, with Exploited they've also gone beyond just a Punk sound too because they're that good! Case in point -

As I was saying The Exploited has tried other different approaches in music as well -
I will have to admit for me, it's very close between Discharge and The Exploited & if Discharge hadn't been on this group of 4 bands I would've probably had Exploited on Top. Part of why I have to go with Discharge on top also is due to the fact that while Tezz (Terry) sang at first, then later played drums for Discharge, he went on to play guitar & bass for a number of bands later such as Ministry, UK Subs, Broken Bones, Battalion of Saints, ADZ, Billy Club & also the Business & yes while he was a regular but not a permanent member in some of those bands and with some of those bands he played for them just for tours but he did a great job. Terry's a nice chap and I've partied with him & he's even given me advice. Besides that there's the fact I get into other music genres and as I mentioned Terry was in other bands and he's done a geat job for other genres doing so, such as while he played for Ministry's "Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste" tour-
As far as Terry goes, I have to admit, I'm a bit envious & yeah, maybe jealous of him getting to play with all the bands he has. He's definitely one of my favorite guitarists and for me that doesn't limit it to just Punk, because other favorite guitarists of mine is guys like Helios Creed, Jimi Hendrix, Link Wray, Bo Diddley, Dave Mustaine, Tony Iommi, Les Paul & a bunch more. Before I forget though, I also have a question about a very, very old Punk band right now that I'm sure a lot a people might not have heard of -
