questions on national guard rotc?
i want to go through rotc in order to pay for my college tuition.
I'm looking into the national guard, but apparently that only offers up to a three year scholarship.
basically I don't want to be deployed, so what are the chances of that happening? can i apply for navy rotc or air force rotc and not be deployed?
Could someone explain the process for me in lame terms? and also what to expect?
Also, ive heard you cannot serve if you have dual citizenship, is this true?

First of all, If the war is still active, your chances of deploying will be about 95%. It really doesn't matter which branch you're in.
Secondly, its not "lame terms" its "layman's terms". Expect to get attached to an Armor/Artillery unit, and deal with the guys that couldn't make it into the jobs that require a high ASVAB score (reason to follow).
Lastly, you can serve with dual citizenship, however, you will not be able to obtain a security clearance. That alone will pretty much hold you back from doing anything cool/interesting.
@redleg - 21 years as an officer, and you're name-calling? Yes, intel is supporting combat roles. However, they do train officers that the dumb privates are "the ones to charge the hill".
Only thing I know how to do, is to find, and never lose the enemy. But I guess only a$$holes do that kind of work.

I'm going to be the grown-up and end this argument. You should Google: Task Force Orange. We're so far into this fight, the only people who will travel with us are Special Operations units. I don't see you wanting to do the stuff i've done. I would MUCH rather be sitting somewhere, throwing artillery shells at someone from a safe distance. I don't have the luxury of armor plating, because it draws attention.
