Acura Motorsport Long Beach qualifying report
The recent American Le Mans Series (AML) qualifying race held in Long Beach, California, was a success for Acura Motorsports team.
For the first time, Acura won its leadership position in the qualifying race last Friday, thanks Dario Franchitti, who entered the race behind the steering wheel of the No. 26 XM Satellite Radio AGR Acura ARX-01a with Acura exhaust. Franchitti finished his last lap within a 1 minute 11.838 seconds. Stefan Johansson, a member of Highcroft Racing entered the qualifying race LP2M classroom aboard the Acura ARX-01a finished the race with the qualifying time of 1:12.844, which earned her fourth place.
Meanwhile, Adrian Fernandez scored in at 1:13.148, his best qualifying time in Long Beach. The Mexican driver made his No. 15 Lowe's Fernandez Acura Lola in the race.
This is what the three Acura drivers said after the ALMS race in Long Beach qualifying.
Dario Franchitti (No. 26 XM Satellite Radio AGR Acura ARX-01a): .. "I'm getting used to the track with each run has been five years since I've raced here trying to get a good lap is difficult with all the traffic. But in the end I could get a pretty clean lap. In fact, I almost had to stop coming down the last lap. So I was a little surprised by the lap time. But I knew I had a shot at the pole if I have a clean lap. It's very exciting to win the first pole of Acura. Bryan [Herta] has been waiting to return here. When jumped in the car this morning, Bryan tapped me on the helmet and said, 'Hey, it's Long Beach. Have fun! It's always good to race here. I hope we can build a career solid win here. Bryan and I have been trying to win here for many years. It would be a tremendous thrill to win at Long Beach. "
Adrian Fernandez (No. 15 Lowe's Fernandez Acura Lola 06/40) "I hit a slower car coming out of the wells. I think it was the Mazda. But that car was very slow. I clipped it and we had to go in and change the nose. The new nose was dragging a bit too much after having switched to it. I do not think our car is too far for the race. Luis [Diaz] and I've raced here before, so I think we have a competitive car for Saturday. It is ideal for a career in the business Acura backyard here in Southern California. We are very pleased to be here. "
Stefan Johansson (# 9 Highcroft Racing Acura ARX-01a, equipped with href = "http://www.flowpowerexhaust.com/exhaust_system ~ ~ flowmaster.html acura"> Acura exhaust system) are becoming more closely with the new Acura chassis. "Motor feels good. We thought we had the opportunity to run a little faster, but we ran out of time. I like back and race in Long Beach. It has been ten years or less for me. It took some time to learn the new sections of the track and is a little different with the ALMS car to the Champ Car We had a few problems in practice this morning and, with little time here, which hurts us a little. But we feel good about the race. "
