Does anyone know what this tool is and does?

It resembles a hammer type tool that is 14" long. One end is approx 5" long and looks like a type of claw hammer, one the same end, other side it looks like a hammer head that is approx 4" long and 1" in dia. The other end of the tool looks like it is some type of precision pry tool. It is approx 4 1/2" long, slightly curved with a notch/look on the end of it. It appears that the handle is in the center of the tool. Imprinted on the tool is J E NEWMAN CO PITTSBURGH PA.. Please help...
