I have recently been using a stud welder trying to weld 34" pins to an I beam through 22mil galvanized deck?
I have set the welder with 1650 amps output with a .90sec time out.
Does anyone have a solution for not blowing the deck out and contaminating the weld and the pin not sticking to the I beam
to; Hot Rod I have to weld through the decking to stick the pin to the beam, the pins are for anchoring concrete to the building structrure
Can you shield the deck with 1/8 inch thick to 1/4 inch thick piece of scrap hard steel or cast iron while welding?
just a piece big enough to be able to move it to the next stud for the next weld
