increased surface roughness improves leakage performance?
I am trying to determine the optimal surface roughness (polypropylene) which would minimize leakage between two surfaces. In the process, I encountered a strange fenomena that I can not explain.
Increasing the surface roughness (EDM finish) up to a certain value decreases the leakage(???), while the leakage significantly increases thereafter.
Can anyone help me understand this?
