Truck Wiring Problems?
Can anyone tell me in the simpliest way possible, How to wire the ignition switch on a 71 C-10 pickup w/350 motor? (not orig.) and has coil in the cap of the distributor. I need basic just to fire and start. Battery, altinator, starter, distributor, is what i am needing
ok u have and HEI distributor High energy Ignition here is what u do take the battery cable and hook it the the big terminal on the starter as normal. next the alternator is a three wire alternator. if ur going to use a kill switch on the battery just feed the alternator directly from the the batter all three wires are hot. if not using a kill switch and using ur ignition switch here is what u do find key on power constant meaning even when the ignition is in start mode it still has power but when off its off, run that wire or splice to the brown wire of the alternator plug i think its number 2 the also run same wire to battery side of distributor, the distributor is done then red wire run to big plug on starter the pin on the alternator that has a big wire, either run to battery directly or run to big post on starter either way doesn't matter it will charge the battery. next find ur crank wire on the ignition switch meaning hot only when key is in crank position, run that to solenoid on starter. ur done u will need a test light hooked to ground to do this start by check ignition switch out using a d v o m or a multimeter using ohms u need to know what wires do what on that switch
